Just one tweet and Rihanna’s $9,000 Dolce and Gabanna headphones sell out


Dolce and Gabbana are used to creating OTT accessories including this golden crown, but we’ve always had our doubts about whether or not these less than useful items are really big sellers. Turns out, all you need is some star power and even the most ridiculous accessories practically sell themselves.


A few days ago Rihanna tweeted a picture of herself with the caption: listening to ANTI. Apart from Rihanna’s beautiful face, the only thing noteworthy about the picture was the massive set of blinged out headphones she was wearing, and even though she didn’t make the barest mention of her headgear, or even tag the brand (Dolce and Gabbana, of course!) the headphones sold out in less than 24 hours. It’s not a new thing when celeb owned merchandise sells out, but in this case, Rih’s impressive headset is priced at a whopping $8,895- not the most reasonable price in the world for a set of headphones.

The headset may be embellished with Swarovski crystals and pearls, and feature an attached tiara, but really, not many people besides the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge need their headphones to double as a crown. Chalk the massive sales out to Rihanna’s sheer star power. If Rihanna wears it, you can be sure everybody else want to wear it too!
