Most of our social media/browser feeds are constantly reminding us of how our planet is dying a slow, painful death each day due to our own actions. We read them, sometimes sigh a bit, and keep scrolling. Many of us, but a few who are different. Like Greta Thunberg, who has shown the world that being little doesn’t mean you cannot do great things. American model Bella Hadid has made a valid point as well, and have pledged to do something on her part – to plant 600 trees for all the travel that she has done in the past three months. The math breaks down to 20 trees for every flight she has taken, which is around a flight every three days.

Donating 600 trees to be planted , 20 for each flight I took these past 3 months and probably will continue for the rest of the year.It makes me sad how much my job effects my carbon footprint and of how brutally climate change is obviously effecting the world. Mother Nature needs some love…🌳🌼🌜 I’ll be starting with my home in California ( 129 million trees need to be restored re: wildfires, 1.3 million acres burned) and of course the Amazon for the most recent wildfires, but please reach out and let me know which locations need to be shown some love as well , all regions welcome🙏🏽 Africa, Asia, North America, and Latin America💛 this is so exciting and interesting to me, that even though I’m not physically there, trees are being brought to life in the most incredible places that are in demand of them! it’s the air we breathe, the water we drink, the biodiversity and animal life we need..🐛🐜🦗 I know it’s not much , but when I fly, I look out the window and see so many beautiful, extensive forests, so much land and trees but also so much that needs lots of help.. think about the animals too💛 anyways . once I get home I’m definitely planting my own tree outside. so inspired by my friends 💛🌿🌱🌳🌼🌼 ps I did some research and onetreeplanted.org is probably the easiest website I’ve found to donate to multiple regions at the same time, if you’re interested:)
She announced this plan on Instagram, with a message that “Mother Earth needs some love”. To start with, she will divide the number of trees planned between her hometown California (280 trees) and 320 in the Amazon – both areas that were ravaged by wildfires recently. She isn’t done though, saying she will add more, depending on the number of flights she will continue to take until the end of this year. The Los Angeles-based model also urged her 26.8 million followers to recommend names of areas that need such a drive and enrichment.
The 23-year old was voted the Model of the Year in 2016 and was seen at the Savage X Fenty show in New York City a couple of months back. She has also been spotted in the gossip coloumns for her on and off relationship with The Weeknd and her father, real estate tycoon Mohamed Hadid filing for bankruptcy. These are her own personal issues, really, and oft times a lazy read for you and I, but her declaration is a wise and thoughtful move. People are waking up to the weight of the climate change issue and notable personalities like her have the capability of encouraging at least a handful, if not thousands more, to wake up and get serious about this deeply worrying issue. We hope this encourages you to take a pledge as well, and plant a few trees too.
