The Obamas to holiday in America’s most expensive small town

Barack Obama is all set to take off on a one-week-long holiday with his family at the end of August. The lucky destination chosen to host the Obamas for their getaway week is Blue Heron Farm, a 28-acre, $20-million property on Martha’s Vineyard Island, off the coast of Massachusetts. A perfect escape, this lush retreat boasts of a swimming pool, basketball court, and even a golf tee. The family pays its own money for this vacation is expected to shell out a rent of $35,000 to $50,000 for a week’s stay. The price seems quite apt since the town of Chilmark, where the Obamas are planning to spend their holiday, was touted to be America’s most expensive small town a couple of years back. There is even a touch of history attached to this historic visit. In the old days, black families vacationed on the island because they were unwelcome elsewhere. What is more, the Blue Heron Farm was selected and given the nod of approval by the Secret Service after rejecting 20 other spots.
