Men love mechanized looks for their room and office, an extension of their personality of sorts. And to add to the existing grandeur is a Martin-Baker Mark II fully automatic rocket-powered pilot’s ejection seat. Cold War artifact from an English Electric Canberra Nuclear Strike Bomber, each component has been individually soldered from blocks of steel, brass, and aluminum. The chair comes with a cartridge-operated canopy jettison system and a manually-operated override bar at the side. Although deactivated, the telescopic ejection rocket still stands. Originally commissioned for the Royal Air Force this 1961 sculpture is priced at $35,000 from the Nicholas Brawer Gallery, Manhattan.
