If you thought May was all about cowering indoors and fearing the sweltering summer then you should probably thank the Gods looking after the luxury department. They sent down a whole load of goodies to the capital, some of which enthralled us for a while, some of which are tempting us even as I type. And then some others! Which is why I decided to dish out the top five. And yes, they can all be enjoyed this season or, rather, despite.
Emporio’s Luxury Shopping Festival
The capital’s greatest luxury destination DLF Emporio, hosted a spectacular, month-long Luxury Shopping Festival. It concluded on May 19th after giving away luxe loving patrons Vertu phones, Tumi laptop bags, Roberto Cavalli handbags, Tom Ford ties, Anju Modi, Rohit Bal and Suneet Varma outfits. But coolest of all, shoppers also won luxury vacations courtesy ‘One & Only’ to Dubai, Maldives, Cape Town and Mauritius. We’re jealous. If you’re too, fret not. The shopping festival returns in September 2014.
This designchild of stylista sisters Priya and Charu Sachdev launched in April. But you would already know this from our report on it. So why do I say this? Because last month, stoked by the website’s ‘Hot Picks’ and inviting ‘Free Shipping’ in Delhi and Mumbai, we decided to indulge in some online shopping. Now we’re saying no more except that DVF may be involved. Look out for the full report that comes out soon.
Summer Menu at Olive
Olive Qutub launched a new summer menu and Chef Sujan Sarkar had us eating out of his hands well, figuratively. What this entailed was Michelin star quality food that came out of the kitchen in handpicked platters, which, might I confess, went back in clean. And by ‘food’ I mean, mille feuille of mango textures and seasonal produce preparations that came with their own delightful sorbets. After a taste, we don’t care if summer’s here to stay. Read our full review Monday.
Another thing that happened last month was that Hungover Enterprises announced the launch of the Primo Privilege card in Delhi/NCR. With a name like that, you’re bound to be curious about their latest service that fits in a pocket. So were we and at the launch, we found, from 7 course dinners to plugging leaks in the kitchen, Primo has it all. Exclusively for expats, though, patrons living in Delhi/NCR can avail this simultaneously discount card, database and review software. All they have to do is log on to Primo Privilege’s website, www.primoprivilege.com, and get started.
Cherry Rouge Collection from L’Occitane En Provence
Now this one caught our fancy for being inspired by a valley of colorful orchards filled with cherry trees. Could we do with better in this heat? The L’Occitane Cherry Rouge Collection is made with a cherry extract from the Luberon region of southern France. Which in our opinion is what any dilliwallah too busy for a summer vacay needs. Our picks? The Cherry Rouge Eu Intense (50 ml for Rs3,800) and the limited edition Cherry Blossom Petal Soft Cream.
