Mumbai-based Nirav Modi is the first Indian jewellery designer to feature on the cover of a Christie’s catalogue, a distinction the auction house had hitherto reserved for internationally renowned brands such as Cartier, Van Cleef and Harry Winston. After flourishing Mumbai with his design embarkment, the talented designer has launched it’s first flagship store in the capital.
Located in Delhi’s Defence Colony, the Nirav Modi store extends over 6,000 sq ft, with interiors designed by Spanish artist Jamie Hayon. The store include a bridal salon, a private viewing area for discreet shoppers. a live workshop where you can watch artisans at work, and a theatrical jewellery display that will be re-designed every season. At the launch, a themed fashion show saw models and charismatic women from Delhi cognoscenti take to the ramp, adorned by the latest collections from the NIRAV MODI atelier. In true Delhi style the exclusive guest list was a mix of politicos, designers and industry titans. Bold-face names included Jammu & Kashmir’s chief minister Omar Abdullah and his sister Sara Pilot, Christies’ Sanjay Sharma, fashion entrepreneur Charu Sachdev, Dior’s Kalyani Saha Chawla, lawyer Rajiv Luthra, CEO & Country Managing Partner of Ernst & Young India Rajiv Memani, Renu Bhatia and designers Rohit Bal, Varun Bahl, and Gauri and Nainika Karan.
