Bringing some high octane color into your fall wardrobe is Gucci’s luscious new range of sneakers. The three piece collection features three, brilliant neon hues- highlighter yellow, acid green and vivid orange for men while the women’s range offers the same yellow and orange, replacing green with a hot pink. Each sneaker consists of a soft leather upper and a white rubber sole embellished with the brand logo. Shunning the more current sneaker designs featuring bulky hardware, concealed wedges or high tops, Gucci pays tribute to a simpler time with a sleek and simple shoe design. We can easily see these becoming a staple on street style blogs everywhere, after all, what’s a better complement to the camel coats and dark trousers of winters than a pair of eye popping shoes?
Gucci now boasts a diverse footwear portfolio, from their signature Horsebit loafers to riding boots. Having also jumped on the jelly shoes bandwagon, it’s not a stretch to imagine Gucci as a power player in the sneaker industry. Nike’s Air Max range has been the go-to street style pick for the fash-pack for the past few seasons, but with new players entering the scene perhaps the sports company will have to work harder to retain the top spot.
The sneakers are available for purchase at Gucci.com. The cost of a women’s pair is €495 (about $650) while a men’s pair would set you back by €550 (close to $725). Gucci’s last experiment with neon produced the Coda Neon leather sneaker range which were an assault on our poor eyes. It’s good to see that the design team has realized that when it comes to neon, a little goes a long way.
