London’s favorite milliner Philip Treacy (you may remember him as the creator of all those fabulous hats and fascinators seen at the spectacular Royal Wedding of 2011) is bringing his design genius to MAC. The make-up company has become famous for its creative collaborations and have worked with famous names including Sharon and Kelly Osbourne as well as designer Giambattista Valli in the past. Treacy’s collection for the iconic beauty brand will draw inspiration from three of his own hats that outline three distinct themes that the Irish milliner describes as “A kind of futuristic Hollywood, one is all about color and the other is a kind of Gothic, modern future.”
Though we haven’t heard much from MAC about the collection, we do know that it will be available in April 2015. Until then we’ll have to be content with images of the hats that inspired the collection. One is a glitzy art deco inspired headpiece, the second is a wispy confection of colorful feathers and flowers while the third is an almost gothic black lace mask. Philip however says the collection will not be about drama but colors that make the wearer look elegant.
“Fashion has become entertainment,” said Treacy of the collaboration, “We’re all in the same business: MAC makes images with makeup, I make images with hats, and we [both] live in a world of fashion imagery. I draw, so, to me, makeup is a tool for the face that can change your life, change your day.”
