Bottega Veneta ingeniously put a mini map of Manhattan on one of their handbags!

For Bottega Veneta’s latest handbag design, the maison’s creative director Tomas Maier sought inspiration in the memorable Big Apple. Manhattan has inspired many artists, designers and writers, but we’ve definitely fallen in love with the way Maier incorporated New York’s most densely populated borough into his handbag design. Called the “Manhattan Olimpia”, the bag offers a smaller version of the brand’s iconic Olimpia handbag, this time adding a 3 d effect to the much loved Intrecciato woven leather design with the addition of strips of snakeskin leather.

But the snakeskin leather does more than just that. Woven into the bag’s pattern it actually references the street grid of Bergdorf Goodman’s Fifth Avenue store and Central Park. This is naturally no coincidence considering that the bag has been created exclusively for Bergdorf Goodman and celebrates the store’s recent remodel of their first floor. More details include the metal clasp which marks the position of Bergdorf on the map and a darker section of nappa leather which indicate the location of Central Park.

The bag is available in six shades each one priced at $3,500. As usual my picks are the bold and bright China Red and Dusty Rose which go perfectly will with dresses, trousers, casual or formal outfits. Give your inner Manhattan fan a reason to rejoice with this portable and stylish map of Manhattan!
