Two iconic British brands are coming together for the collaboration of a lifetime. Burberry Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci is joining forces with Vivienne Westwood to create a limited-edition collection of re-imagined Brit fashion. It’s an interesting move for both brands. Burberry is no doubt undergoing some changes as its reins shift from Christopher Bailey to Ricardo Tisci, while Vivienne Westwood’s status has been more of an icon rather than an industry influencer.
“Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something,” Tisci said in a statement. “She is a rebel, a punk and unrivalled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together.”
The collection will spotlight reworked items from the Westwood archives. Proceeds from the collection will benefit rainforest charity Cool Earth. We can only wonder what’s in store for us. We could use a couple of punk inspired trench coats to be honest.
