Coach has been the go-to luxury fashion brand for fashionistas since times immemorial. While the American marquee continues to receive overwhelming love, it recently completed 75 years of its glamorous existence in the fashion industry. And to celebrate this milestone, the brand is all set to host a worldwide auction of newly embellished vintage bags.
The auction pieces will primarily include three iconic Coach Silhouettes – the Duffle, the Saddle, and the Dinky. The bags will be presented in a completely transformed manner and will more or less fall under either of the label’s current themes i.e. ‘Friends of Coach’,(which is conceptualized by creative director Stuart Vevers’), the runway hits (inspired straight from the runway) and over the top embellishments. Especially impressive is the ‘Friends of Coach’ group that basically has each bag styled in stimuli of a Hollywood star. You can spot a Kate Bosworth, which is a classic black-and-white cross-body purse with a gold chain and fringe, a Zoë Kravitz in an emerald blue fringed look as well as a bag that is dedicated to the label’s current ambassador, Chloë Grace Moretz, that features rhinestone studding and a quirky guitar strap handle.
Although each of the bags is styled in a contemporary manner, their ultimate aim is to pay a tribute to the brand’s long-standing charisma. Further, the proceeds(in part) of the celebratory auction ($50,000) will go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute that basically works on preserving vanishing styles while also promoting new art forms. The auction begins on October 19th up till the 28th of the month and users can preview and take part in the sale via the auctioning forum- Paddle8.
