The lockdown has made life difficult, especially for those missing the fun and frenzy of the fashion world. However, making matters better for connoisseurs across the globe is Christian Dior. The marquee will soon be hosting a Cruise 2021 collection in Puglia, Italy on a live runway –but minus any audience. Yes, that’s right!
In following lockdown protocols, the fashion label announced plans to stage the show live sans a full audience via a recently held video conference. Speaking to enthusiasts, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pietro Beccari, Christian Dior’s creative director of the women’s collection and CEO quoted their reasons for hosting the Cruise 2021 show amid the pandemic and also threw light on the brand’s Spring Summer 2021 plans. The event which was originally supposed to take place in May this year will now be held in Puglia on July 22 with plans for a Paris show in September.
Commenting on it, Beccari said, “We would like to send a message of support, hope, and rebirth to the world; to the big suppliers and the small ones. Many still don’t know how to survive, so this move is so important for the artisans that we need to preserve. We want to give them a reason to restart,” He further added, “We believe this occasion will be auspicious for the future, a good incentive to carry on with a certain optimism.”
The cruise collection will be staged at Piazza del Duomo in Lecce, Italy, on July 22 and will only be open for viewing to friends and family of the brand in person.
