Salvatore Ferragamo may be best known for crafting women’s footwear (specifically the timeless Varina ballet flat) but the brand is now looking to make a mark in the world of menswear and accessories too. Their recent campaign: A Man’s Story was all about classic yet cool accessories that included belts, watches, bags, fragrances and most prominently: sneakers.
The collection includes high and low top sneakers in colors like navy, black, red and tan. The brand employs materials like calfskin, crocodile, denim, ostrich, suede and even metal hardware to give the sneakers a distinctive look. The sneakers are priced between $540 and $1,950 and can be purchased online.
While we can appreciate Ferragamo’s foray into a new direction, we’re bored to tears by these sneakers. Designer sneakers are ridiculously overhyped these days and they’re beginning to all look the same to us. Design-wise, Tom Ford’s clean cut aesthetic had us at hello, in contrast sneakers for men from Ferragamo, Jimmy Choo and Gucci all give us déjà vu with their similar materials, embellishments and brand logos. We’re on the verge of skipping the designer places in favor of the Foot Locker.
