Guess who played muse to Gucci’s new FY16 collection? It none other than beloved ‘Peanuts’ comic character, Snoopy! Charming us for years in the comic strip, this adorable little fluff ball will now be seen imprinted on tees and sweaters that form a part of Gucci’s new collection. Gucci, like many luxury fashion brands has taken resort to its animal love for inspiration, giving us a new collection that is every bit of whimsical, quirky and impishly stylish!
Alessandro Michele who is the artist behind the collection is quite an ardent animal enthusiast as could be seen from his FY 15 collection which displayed eccentric tiger, serpent and bumblebee motifs and designs. In his recent work, we can see snoopy imprinted on the front in his characteristic white against the bright red backdrop. The back showcases the recurring Alessandro tiger stripes representing the designer’s motto- “l’aveugle par amour” (that’s “blind for love” in French). The sweaters are a 100 percent wool that come with a jacquard knit snoopy and Rib trims, with all units manufactured in the brand’s home country-Italy.
Apart from sweaters, the collection also includes tees and crewnecks with an identically similar design. Beloved as Snoopy is, this isn’t the first time the cartoon character can be seen in a fashion series and has been seen collaborating with names like BAPE, Stussy and Bamford Watch Department in the past. While this uber cute collection will cost you $480 for the tee, $980 for the Knit and $1,150 for the crewneck, it isn’t that pricey a deal for snoopy fans.
