If you don’t feel a divide between the rich and poor already – Gucci is here to remind you of it! The marquee is set to open private boutiques across the world that can only be accessed by select clients (read the wealthy lot). The boutiques are a part of its growth strategy after the brand’s sales fell 14 percent in the last three months of 2022 due to Covid-19 curbs in China and reduced demand for its clothes in the United States. With the novel plan, they aim to provide a more intimate experience to their wealthy clientele with only the priciest clothing, furniture, and jewelry on offer.

As per the brand representatives, nothing at the boutiques will be priced below $40,000 and listed items could go as far up as $3 million – in the case of high-end jewelry. While some of these intimate salons will be hosted within the brand’s pre-existing boutiques, others such as the one on Melrose Avenue will open up newly – from scratch.

In addition to announcing new boutiques for its high-end clients, Gucci is also hoping to re-position itself with its new creative director Sabato De Sarno’s collections that are slated to arrive in stores somewhere towards the end of 2024. The brand is also planning to promote an exhibit of its archives on a world tour with a first stop in Shanghai and is also looking to elevate its presence at the catwalk with a show in Milan this month and a cruise collection in Seoul in May.
