Hermès is offering their customers a subtle way to customize their handbags through colorful bag straps. The range of straps are meant to complement the house’s Bolide 1923 handbags.
On the other hand, the more well-known Kelly bag was styled with a strap studded with large metal embellishments. The same metal cabochons were also seen on a number of pointy toed loafers.
Hermès is far from revolutionary when it comes to introducing bag straps to personalize bags, as Louis Vuitton and Fendi have already tried this tactic before. Are we more tempted to try it out this time around? Not really. If the point of personalization is to put your ow stamp on something, why on earth would the brand make more than one piece of any strap? Customization may be profitable these days, but brands need to work harder at getting it right.
