Just for you Morty – Nike’s app-controlled self-lacing shoe’s are here

As anticipated, technology is making its way to the most unexpected places – one of which happens to be your footwear! And nope, we aren’t talking about manually done custom fits or designs but are in fact referring to an app-controlled shoe that not only laces itself but also adjusts sizes as per the comfort of the wearer! Welcome Adapt BB- Nike’s most awaited entrant that has quickly taken the shoe world by storm!

Created especially for basketball players, the sneakers make use of a power-lacing system called FitAdapt that can be operated manually or with a smartphone app. They further boast of custom motors and trained gears that sense the tension needed by your feet to adjust themselves accordingly. The advanced technology of the shoe also creates 32 pounds of force allowing it to stay locked in through any range of movement from the wearer. Other features include a Flyknit constructed shroud for ultra-flexibility, a padded tongue and flexible collar for easy entry and a Cushlon foam midsole for comfortable and responsive cushioning.

Commenting on the upcoming launch of the Adapt BB, Eric Avar, Nike VP Creative Director of Innovation stated, “We picked basketball as the first sport for Nike Adapt intentionally because of the demands that athletes put on their shoes,” He further added, “During a normal basketball game the athlete’s foot changes and the ability to quickly change your fit by loosening your shoe to increase blood flow and then tighten again for performance is a key element that we believe will improve the athlete’s experience.” The exclusive Nike Adapt BB sneakers will officially hit shelves on February 17 for $350 per pair.
