Karl Lagerfeld to open his first store in Britain

The master of reinvention Karl Lagerfeld, who is associated with labels like Chanel and Fendi has confirmed speculations of opening his first own store in London. In February, the man with a passion for fashion opened his first eponymous-label shop in Paris (pictured above). To date, the German designer has been selling his collection online and in high-end departmental stores like Selfridges and Harrods. The store is set to open on South Molton Street in Central London in the space currently sublet to Kurt Geiger, close to Oxford Street and Bond Street.

Lagerfeld’s team hopes to open this new store by year-end. Lagerfield will be opening a store in Amsterdam this month and the second store in Paris in the Marais district by May. The majority owner, the private equity group Apax Partners, hopes to reach 100 stores eventually, plans a 10-store opening initially.
