LL Armcandy of the week : Christian Louboutin Manilacaba

Inspiration can strike at any moment and designer Christian Louboutin was struck hard on a trip to the Philippines. The high energy environment of the city of Manila, the cheery people and the colours and sounds of the city, all pushed him to create a handbag that embodied the city’s spirit. Called Manila cava, the bag is available in two variants: Denim Blue and Black Satin.

Both versions feature plenty of eye catching details from unique designs rendered in embroidery to fun sequins and embellishments. These bags are fun and so summer appropriate that you will fall in love with them at first glance. Filipino arts and crafts often use materials like sequins and mother of pearl, and you will find them incorporated into these bags which pay tribute to the amazing culture and energy of Manila.

Manilacaba was created in partnership with the GREAT (“Gender Responsive Economic Action for the Transformation of Women”) Women in ASEAN initiative, a platform supporting the craftsmanship and economic empowerment of Asian women artisans, Christian Louboutin worked closely with local Filipino artisans to bring the authentic, colourful embroidered panels of Manilacaba to life. Louboutin wants his customers to know that when they purchase this bag, they can be sure that the workers who helped create it were paid a fair wage, in addition a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Manilacaba bag will benefit GREAT to help them achieve their goal of supporting women.

The Manilacaba bags can be purchased through the Louboutin estore for $1,590.
