While it is always great to sample the standard LV merchandise from time to time, it wouldn’t hurt either to see the brand collaborate with a contrastingly quirky yet aesthetically similar label. In line with this thought, we bring to you the news of a possible collaboration between Louis Vuitton and the revered Japanese design brand – Fragment. While nothing is officially said on the prospective team-up, the teasing imagery on Instagram is signal enough for the upcoming association.
Earlier in the week, Louis Vuitton’s artistic menswear director- Kim Jones, shared an image of what clearly looks like the brands forthcoming collaboration with the Japanese marquee, showing also evident display of a collared short- sleeve t-shirt and a bag with the luxury retailer’s classic monogram print. While the large tote bag bears the fragment design detail in black, the button down shirt in a rustic grey also features co-tagged emblems for both brands. The Instagram post immediately went viral and was also re-posted by Fragment founder and Japanese streetwear legend Hiroshi Fujiwara a few hours later.
Earlier in the year as well, both Fujiwara and Jones shared photos of what may be additional items from the collaborative line including a black bag, leather boots, and jackets. However, this is the first time posts with “coming soon” taglines are being thrown around on social media by the brands. Whether or not LV and Fragment hit it off fashionably, is something only time will tell us.
