Taking its travel oriented history quite seriously, Louis Vuitton has opened its very first European airport store. Located at London’s Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5, the 301sq.m store will the usual fare including leather goods, women’s ready to wear and shoes, accessories, sunglasses, fine jewelry and watches. The exterior of the store will also boast an installation by Ange Leccia whose work has been showcased everywhere from the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris to the Gugghenheim Museum in New York.
The short film commissioned is titled Giraglia (inspired by the Mediterranean Sea) and will be presented on a digital screen set within the façade of the store. The store front is adorned with panels of metallic striped glass which the brand calls “fins” that lend a fantastical look to the store. The interior also boats some beautiful design elements and a beautiful color and textural scheme consisting of beige leathers, polished plaster in light gold, smoked teakwood and antique brass metalwork.
LV is in good company as Dior and Cartier are among the high end retailers with stores at Heathrow. We confess we do love the idea of making a luxe LV purchase just before jetting off on a winter holiday!
