McLaren and L’Amy join hands for an exclusive eyewear collection

McLaren has already proven its prowess when it comes to racing technology and building superfast sportscars. The marque is now set to meet success in the world of eyewear by partnering with leading eyewear manufacturer, L’Amy. Together, the two have given birth to the McLaren Vision Collection – a state-of-the-art eyewear range that takes bifocals to a whole new level.

The exclusive collection will feature sunglasses and prescription spectacles, both built using a unique design that is specially created by the design teams of both brands. Much like the use of advanced technology in McLaren cars, pieces in the vision collection will feature frames made from 3D-printed titanium and a 3D facial scan to suit the precise dimensions of the wearer’s face. Further, lenses within the frames will come fixed at just two contact points, that offer a unique “floating” structure to keep the glasses both lightweight as well as strong. The frames also display well-designed rotary hinges for the ultimate comfort of the wearer.

The McLaren Vision collection was first showcased at the SILMO in September 2018 and has already won the SILMO d’Or Design Award for Technology and Innovation. The eyewear will officially be launched the MIDO Show in Milan, on 23-25 February and is expected to hit shelves soon thereafter. And although there is no sum on the pricing, given the McLaren stamping, pieces from the Vision collection are sure to command a hefty sum!
