The famous, luxury sports brand – Adidas- has announced an intriguing new design collaboration. British singer Rita Ora has reportedly been signed on to create five capsule collections for the popular sporting company. Rita joins the ranks of big names like Stella McCartney, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, Pharell Williams and Jeremy Scott who have all lent their name and creativity to the German brand at different times. Interestingly, this will be the first time in its history that the brand has collaborated with a female singer.
The collaboration will last up until Fall of 2015 (three seasons) and the collections are to be called Black, Pastel, Colorblock Packs, Spray, and Roses, each featuring a unique theme. The Black collection will draw inspiration from Rita’s London wardrobe while another collection (unnamed) will be connected to Rita’s dove tattoos- a reference to her softer and more ladylike sensibilities.
We’re excited to see what the Brit style icon has in store for us! We’re already hearing buzz about exciting pieces like a leather jacket with glow-in-the-dark embellishments, a rain coat, and sneakers. While the Black collection will hit stores later this summer (August 21st is a tentative date), Spray and Roses will become available come November.
Prices will range from $30 for a beanie to $500 for a leather varsity jacket, certainly not a deterrent for fashion and luxury enthusiasts. This may be in keeping with Rita’s idea of keeping the clothing line wearable for everyone, “comfortable, yet sexy” being her key aesthetic. After losing the title of most coveted sports brand to Nike last year, maybe Rita’s collection will put Adidas back on the Fashion fraternity’s “It” list this year. The collection will be available at Adidas Original stores and the Adidas website.
