Already well known for cutting edge womenswear and accessories, Stella McCartney has cemented her status as a fashion industry heavyweight. Now the designer has introduced an impressive menswear collection that takes her company and brand to the next level. Packed with familiar silhouettes in interesting new textures and colors, this collection feels fresh and gutsy, a fitting debut for Stella.
The collection was inspired by a number of different subcultures as well as iconic artworks and British style and fashion. You’ll find plenty of athleisure-inspired outfits punctuated with splashy prints, contemporary jackets, and trousers in familiar tweeds and loose, almost pajama-like casual ensembles.
The designer chose the iconic Abbey Road studio to unveil her collection – the same studio that her father Paul and his fellow Beatles made famous on their Album cover years and years ago. “It really means a lot to our family this studio… seeing and hearing what’s been created here, the best music in the world. It’s such an iconic place. So many people have recorded here,” she said.
On the subject of her designs, she said, “The challenge has been just to look at how men dress but also not overthinking it.”
“We want them to be a bit freer and having more fun with their wardrobe and also have timeless beautiful pieces at the same time,” she added.
The collection is available for purchase through the brand website with prices starting at around $250 for a t-shirt.
