Stella McCartney’s sportswear designed for the British Olympic team unveiled

UK designer Stella McCartney seems to have taken a big leap in her career by leaving behind her high-couture dream to embrace the world of sportswear. Stella McCartney has designed a sportswear collection for Adidas to cater to 900 British Olympic and Paralympic athletes of the official Team GB, competing in 46 sports. The project has been in development for 2 years, providing plenty of time for her to design 590 different items of clothing, all created to maximize the athletes’ efficiency in their various disciplines.

McCartney has incorporated the Union Flag in most of her sportswear collection, for it is of special importance to her. She also stayed true to the iconic design and managed to give it a quirky and contemporary edge. It also helped to create a sense of identity for the athletes. My favorite in the collection is the bikini with the Union flag etched on the derriere.
