Ready to trade in your Birkin for a hi-tech tote? Looks like that’s exactly what’s going to happen soon as NYC based start-up Leoht has produced a handbag that comes with a built-in lithium-ion battery (6,000 mAh) in its base and two USB ports that allow users to charge their gadgets on the go. The bag also features LED interior lighting that allows you to clearly see the contents of the voluminous shopper and find your stuff with ease.
Among other features is a hidden compartment for valuables an external power panel that lets you see how much power the battery currently has and allows for recharging on the move via a micro USB charger. The bag is crafted from leather and is as chic in design as any designer shopper. It will be available in black and cognac as well as in a number of limited edition shades. Leoht’s debut collection – ‘Seed’ collection– will include the tote, a satchel with a cross-body option and a specially-designed hobo bag.
The market value of a Leoht tote is estimated to be around $350, but interested customers can buy one of these techie totes (complete with the charging plate, travel pouch and a table hanger) for $149 from the brand’s Kickstarter page. You can learn more about Leoht here.
