Tiffany’s has announced to collaborate with Reed Krakoff for designing their all new accessories and home goods collection. Though Krakoff’s own designer label has been unsuccessfully discontinued, he is highly appreciated for his work at Coach, where he worked as a Creative director for 16 years before being replaced in 2013 by Stuart Vevers.
The new collection at Tiffany’s will retain its original touch with Krakoff adding his creative twist to it. So purchasing out of the new collection will come with the added creative touches of Krakoff without compromising on the feel of being a Tiffany product. Though jewelry and watches will not be a part of his kitty, Krakoff will add his creative inputs to the remaining range of products including handbags, sunglasses, tabletops, and apparel and writing accessories and design director Francesca Amfitheatrof will simultaneously continue to work on the jewelry and watch line. Both Krakoff and Amfitheatrof will report to Tiffany CEO, Frederic Cumenal.
This is not the first time the brand has included an outside creative partner on its collection. Early this year, Tiffany also welcomed former creative director at Vogue, Grace Coddington on board. The collection which is a semi deviation from its line of established products is set to launch in 2017. Will the partnership between the two continue post the launch, is for time to tell. For now this sensational amalgamation of design minds looks intriguing and something to watch out for!
