Bentley unveiled their first luxury hybrid car at the Geneva Motor Show. The company has given their Bentayga SUV an advanced electric motor and a charging dock designed by the one and only Philippe Starck. The charging dock is not only distinguishable thanks to its design, but gets an added bonus thanks to its sustainable elements.
The dock uses materials like pressed eco-linen, bio-sourced thermosetting resin and a hot-pressure aluminum casting to create a stylish sculpture that is intended to be used at home. Allowing car owners to charge their own vehicle at home opens up possibilities; the company also says that for those fortunate enough to have an industrial power supply at home, charge time can be as little as 2.5 hours. The charging dock can be used in conjunction with a smartphone app.
The electric Bentayga itself is supposedly Bentley’s most efficient model so far. “It is our first step on the road to electrification,” said Adrian Hallmark, newly appointed chairman and CEO of Bentley, “combining traditional Bentley values with the very latest technologies.”
