Armand de Brignac unveils its most-expensive limited edition champagne

Rapper Jay-Z’s Champagne brand, Armand de Brignac has launched its most expensive bottle, the Blanc de Noirs. Made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes, the bottle is expected to retail at £600-700 ($930-$1,092) in the UK, over 50 per cent more than Armand de Brignac’s current costliest label, the Rosé, which sells for around £300 ($468). Jay-Z bought the brand from Sovereign Brands in October last year.

The company will produce only 3,000 bottles of Blanc de Noirs and will come packaged in a pewter bottle. However, it isn’t the most expensive bottle of champers from the region. That position goes to Krug’s Clos d’Ambonnay, a pure Pinot Noir Champagne which costs £2,000 ($3,120). The brand will also release 5,000 bottles of Demi-Sec Champagne this September with 34g/l of sugar, which is triple the content of the Brut Gold, which has 11g/l.

According to Armand de Brignac CEO Sebastien Besson, the proposed single vineyard called Clos Yons, planted exclusively with Pinot Meunier opens doors to a wide range of Champagnes like single vineyard, vintage wines, other blends, or a zero dosage to find something unique.

“We are defining a new way to define the brand as a true luxury item, and not something that is celebrity endorsed,” he said.
