At $15,000, Burgundy crowned the world’s most expensive wine


Wine connoisseurs all around the world are taken by surprise to learn that the rare Burgundy has usurped the number one position over the Romanee-Conti in being the most expensive wine in the world. The second place also goes to a Burgundy.

New Zealand based website, WineSearcher has given the crown to 1985 Richebour Grand Cru from the Cotes de Nuit range which costs approximately $15,000 for a 750 ml bottle. This wine has been created by renowned wine maker, Henri Jayer, a visionary in the business who died at the age of 84.

The wines from Burgundy also account for 40 of the top 50 wines, leaving behind the wines from Bordeaux, France’s most prestigious wine region. The price of this bottle may make your heart skip a beat but it will definitely stimulate your palate.
