After launching the Blue Label Ghost and Rare Brora last year, Johnnie Walker is back again with a brand-new blend called the Port Ellen. The novel whisky is to form part of Blue Label’s limited-edition series of special whiskies and makes its way from the now-defunct Port Ellen distillery.
Quite like other whiskies for the Blue Label reserve, the Port Ellen is rich on the palette and a treasure for whisky connoisseurs and collectors. It is bottled at an ABV of 43.8% with each of its units being individually numbered and highlighted for limited availability and rarity. As per Diageo, each edition in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare series “offers a fleeting opportunity to savor the depth of character of whiskies from distilleries whose spirit lives on in their dwindling stocks.”
Commenting on the special Blue Label ‘Ghost’ whiskies, Johnnie Walker master blender Jim Beveridge stated, “These whiskies deliver a fascinating glimpse into another world, exploring the unique, inimitable character of whiskies from a small number of iconic, closed distilleries that lend something very special to every drop of Johnnie Walker Blue Label”. The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Ellen will be available onward October, for an estimated retail price of £275 ($361) for each 70cl bottle.
