Macallan and Pantone come together to create a color inspired whiskey- the exclusive Edition No.5


If you’re a whiskey and color enthusiast – prepare to take home the exclusive and uber-chic Edition No.5 by Macallan, presented in purple decanter of sorts. The bottle is a product of a creative collaboration between the whiskey manufacturer and Pantone, who have together created a release that aims at creating a benchmark in terms of design, taste and feel.

Christened as the “The Macallan Edition Purple”, the bottle contains a single malt aged entirely within American oak and chosen specifically for its rich color to fit the bill. The spirit further boasts ‘an intense flavor profile that hosts sweet notes of caramel and fresh fruit combined with oak spices. The Edition No. 5 is presented Purple as the hue to represent “the rainbow’s most complex color” which mirrors its complex making process.

Commenting on the “The Macallan Edition Purple”, Laurie Pressman, the Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. “As the rainbow’s most complex color, purple naturally felt like the ideal shade to highlight the equally complex process involved in The Macallan’s whisky making,” She further added, “This new vibrant shade developed for Edition No. 5, brings to life the exquisite combination of distinctive natural hues found in this whisky.” In the past Pantone has also partnered with Airbnb for an all-green retreat and Bentley for the pastel hued Continental GTs.

As for the Edition No.5, the exclusive whiskey will hit the U.S. market by the end of the month for a retail price of $120 each.
