Chai Wu, a swanky modern Chinese eatery has occupied a prime spot on the fifth floor of the famed London departmental store, Harrods. The generously sized 90 seater restaurant has been conceptualized by Chef Jason See Meng Hwa, who specialises in Chinese cookery, and overseen by Ian Pengelley (Gilgamesh, Mango Tree, Nozomi).
When we’re talking about starters, customers have a wide variety ranging from Chilean sea-bass dumplings with gold leaf to Wagyu and black pepper puff. Signature dishes will include Beijing duck, Alaskan king crab with soy glaze, and lotus root and lily bulb in a spicy toban sauce.
For entrees, à la carte dishes are on the menu or choose from a variety of fresh meat, fish and vegetables grilled to order, such as poussin with spicy chilli-lime dressing.
Inspired by the five elements of Chinese philosophy, the restaurant boasts a traditional interior design. The room will feature a charcoal grill in the middle with a dining bar surrounding the grill.
Chai Wu will open on 18th January 2015 on the Fifth Floor at Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7XL.
