Nestle Japan introduces Onsen steamed bun inspired KitKats!

There are two things that Japan seems to be better at than most other nations. The nation is undoubtedly the worldwide champion of Kit Kats – offering flavors that range from orange and strawberry to more strange confections like pumpkin KitKat or more recently, Ruby Chocolate KitKat.

Their other specialty is hot springs or onsen. These are incredibly popular in Japan and even have their own snacks! One such snack, the hot spring steamed bun, has inspired KitKat’s latest flavor. The bun itself is a steamed confection filled with delicious red bean paste – the KitKat remake featured a red bean paste crème filling between the wafers and a light brown coating to emulate the look of the Hot spring bun.

KitKat collectors will be thrilled by this new addition to the range, which features characters from “100 Views of Cats” (Neko Hyakkei) on the packaging. But to buy this product, you’ll have to head over to one of the Hot Springs in Japan where the Kit Kat Mini Onsen Manju Flavors are sold. Each pack contains 14 mini-size pieces and is priced at around $8.50.
