Peter Saville’s bottle design for Hennessy is a Midas touched beauty!

If you’ve been following the progress of Hennessy’s V.S.O.P. Privilège Collection launched in 2011, then you’ll know that every year since then, the eminent cognac house has added a limited edition collectible bottle to the range, giving V.S.O.P lovers every reason to be excited. This year’s bottle is the design genius of British art director and designer Peter Saville.

hennessy-vsop-peter-saville-1Saville recasts the famous Hennessy’s carafe in a subtle but glamorous matte gold that gives way to earth tones through a neat color gradation. Loud, “chemical bright” colors have also been incorporated into the bottle. Neon pinks, electric blues and vivid oranges are stark against the muted background. The carafe also boasts an embossed white logo, a delicate “veil varnish” and a metallic macaron.

hennessy-vsop-peter-saville-4The cognac itself is classic Hennessy, boasting aromas of light tobacco and vanilla among “toasty notes.” Its rounded style makes it universally appealing and suitable for consumption neat, on the rocks or even with Hennessy’s range of Mix beverages.

hennessy-vsop-peter-saville-3We think this one’s a keeper! Even if you’re not fond of cognac yourself, it’s a great bottle to give to someone as a gift. Hennessy’s collaborations are getting more and more interesting. We’ve loved their partnerships with Shepard Fairey and Apartment 103 and we’re dying to know what this brand has in store for us this year!
