Given the global lockdown and anxiety induced by the Coronavirus, visiting bars may hardly be on one’s mind. However, for when things resume to normalcy – here’s where you need to head to have your first post-quarantine drink in Singapore. We’re talking about the elite Jigger & Pony that recently won the title for Asia’s best bar!
Appearing numero uno on the 2020 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, the bar outshone The Old Man (Hong Kong) off the top spot after voting industry peers deemed it the year’s reigning bar. Following suit were The Old Man (Hong Kong) and COA (Hong Kong) who came in second and third respectively.
The ceremony was originally due to be held in Singapore, but due to the pandemic, it was conducted online. In its fifth year, the event saw six new bars and India enter the list. Further, China (including Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Guangzhou) was the country with the most bars on the ranking with 12, followed by Singapore with 10, Japan with six and Taiwan and Thailand both with five.
The winning name – Jigger & Pony, is part of a group of the same name and has been co-founded by husband-and-wife duo Indra Kantono and Gan Guoyi. It is located at Amara Singapore in Tanjong Pagar and is known for its classic cocktails with innovative Asian twists. A post- pandemic drink at Asia’s best awaits us after all!
