Joining the ranks of the skilled photographers who have worked with Macallan (the list includes Annie Leibovitz) is fashion photographer Mario Testino. He will become the fifth artist chosen for Macallan’s Masters of Photography series and his photos -shot in a former palace near Tian’anmen Square in Beijing- are all about smooth glamor of a luxe party.
But Testino’s beautiful prints are only half the deal. If you actually manage to snag the limited edition Masters of Photography limited edition single malt, you’re in for quite a treat. The drink is a one-of-a-kind blend of six different casks each with their own distinct aroma and flavor. The resultant single malt is perfection in a bottle, boasting a citrusy notes and a lingering finish.
The dark packaging contains one 750 ml bottle of the single malt blend in a numbered box, a Testino print, a book of twenty additional pictures taken at the Beijing shoot as well as a hidden compartment holding six miniature bottles each containing one of the individual casks used to create the beautiful blend.
“I decided to capture the moment when people get together to celebrate, in the atmosphere of a whiskey environment—a whiskey club!” said Testino, speaking about the images he contributed. “Whiskey was the choice of drink in my country during the years I was growing up,” he added referring to Peru, the country of his birth.
The Macallan Masters of Photography: Mario Testino edition is priced at $3,500.
