The $10,000 cocktail offered at Windsor Court Hotel, New Orleans celebrates Superbowl

The Superbowl is the third most-watched program in the US; more than 150,000 fans have flocked to the stadium in New Orleans, with an additional 1 million estimated to be watching from home. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Windsor Court Hotel is offering a drink dubbed the ‘Key to the City,’ that will cost you a mere $10,000. The cocktail is made of rare D’Oliveiras Malvasia 1907 Madeira, poured over crushed ice, garnished with fruit, and served in a julep glass. Normally a bottle of this wine would sell for $2,000 with a 3-ounce pour costing about $250. However, before you start heckling this ridiculously priced drink, you should know that the side orders that come with it include a souvenir gold key, a two-night stay at the Windsor Court penthouse, concierge and butler service during the stay, spa treatments, dinner, a city tour and an evening at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse.

For those who can’t afford the ‘Keys to the City,’ the Windsor Court Hotel also offers a more modest ‘Keys to the Court’ drink that will cost $2,000. The drink is a classic New Orleans Sazerac made with Louis XIII cognac and includes a one-night stay in the hotel, spa treatments, and a dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, The Grill Room.
