In a fitting tribute to the American actress Tallulah Bankhead, The London Ritz Hotel’s Rivoli bar has added a dazzling new cocktail to their summer menu. Called ‘the Tallulah’ the drink is an elegant concoction of Soshu Japanese spirit, Jasmine Pearl tea, Cinzano Bianco, geranium essence and Piper-Heidsieck champagne and is served in a delightfully original bespoke “glass slipper.” The new cocktail and its charming presentation is a contemporary reimagining of the iconic moment in Ritz hotel history when Ms. Bankhead famously sipped champagne out of her slipper at a press conference that marked her arrival in London. Each beverage will be served with a numbered allowing customers to own a souvenir of the Ritz’s rich history.
Walter Pintus, the creative genius behind the Tallulah has truly captured her dynamic spirit and personality in his creation. And with the Rivoli bar’s elaborately glamorous ‘20s inspired décor as the backdrop, any cocktail connoisseur will be transported back to a Gatsby-esque era full of opulence and grandeur. Perhaps that was exactly what Pintus had intended! Champagne cocktails are a house specialty at the Rivoli bar and the Ritz 100 (created in 2006 to celebrate the hotel’s Centennial) remains the most requested cocktail on their menu.
The Ritz Carlton is known for its opulent celebrations and while the price of the cocktail is as yet undisclosed, we’re sure that the price of a piece of the Ritz’s star studded history will be steep!
