This $14,000 Flying Carpet chair is exactly the stuff that fantasies are made of

Magic carpets are usually known for their capacity for flight, but these magical carpets are something else altogether. The brainchild of Cypriot designer Stelios Mousarris, these chairs are a masterclass in illusion, appearing to magically float while conveniently folded into a chair.

There is a less magical and more logical explanation for their mystical appearance though. They are comprised of Persian carpets supported by a 6mm steel frame specifically designed to be invisible.

Each carpet is bespoke and handmade, taking four months to produce. Mousarris has collaborated with artist Jan Blythe for this project.

You can request a chair as elaborate or as simple as you like. The pictured design looks regal thanks to its long train.

Each chair is priced at €12,000 ($14,089 at current exchange).
