Herman Miller recreates an Eames-inspired lounge chair and ottoman for fashion brand 3sixteen

New York’s fashion label 3sixteen has announced its latest partnership with American furniture manufacturer Herman Miller to create a one-of-a-kind lounge chair and ottoman for the brand. After months of conversation and brainstorming, the outcome was a custom reworked classic – the Eames lounge chair and ottoman that features natural vegetable-tanned leather upholstery, treated to darken over time. Designed to resemble ‘a well-used first baseman’s mitt’, the set is framed within a classic, hand-oiled Santos Palisander wood veneer shell, with the final product that integrates form and function.

Only three sets of this chair-ottoman have been manufactured, making the edition unique to 3sixteen. The company plans to document the chairs over the years as they age. The set made its debut at the Pop-up Flea in New York City last week, where visitors had the chance to physically interact with it up close.
