The Petiole Hammock at $35,000 looks more like a modern sculpture from MoMA

Hammocks are great, particularly when you’re looking for a place off the ground to snooze while outdoors. However, sleeping on a hammock isn’t always a fantastic experience, particularly if you live closer to the equator and the sun decides to roast you crisp every time you step outside. Here’s where the Petiole Hammock works best! A recipient of the Les Découvertes award for innovation at the prestigious Maison & Objet design show, this handmade, self-suspended hammock is the product of 20 years of design and development.

This hammock is made in Sweden with a shade that promises to keep you protected from the sun’s heat. The entire hammock is supported by a 9 1/2′ electropolished 304 stainless steel pole that is curved to form a half-circle. The canopy shade blocks 86% of UV rays, and the Petiole Hammock can support weights of up to 1/4 ton. This hammock has enough room for two people to laze away outdoors and measures 145 2/3″ L x 114″ H x 98 1/2″ W. The Petiole Hammock is priced at $35,000.
