Pottery Barn has added a designer-touch to its latest collection with the company’s first-ever designer collaboration with Ken Fulk, a San Francisco-based designer who burst into the design scene after a host of It-list projects, from the private club (The Battery, San Francisco) to the wedding of the decade (for tech mogul Sean Parker, in a redwood forest), plus forthcoming restaurants and a studio for his team in New York City. And now he brings ‘The 60-item Ken Fulk Collection’ to Pottery Barn, inspired by his love of entertaining, travel, and his three golden retrievers: Delilah, Duncan, and Hubbell.
For his line, the Virginia native landed on wanderlust as a touchstone. “I’m constantly marveling at the world,” he says. “Not just traveling to exotic places, but also traveling back in time, trying to re-create that child-like sense of awe we lose as adults.”
This ‘awe-inspiring’ collection includes some cheeky doggy barware, a giraffe-print rug with a distressed hide-like texture, a Federal-style mirror and a Tramp Art–inspired mirror and a collection of decoupage signs and light boxes.
“The designs are about modern life with a historical twist. And it’s meant to have a sense of humor. I want you to smile! That’s what it’s all about” he adds.
Some of our personal favorites include:
The Keyhole Collection of Bedside Table ($699) featuring mixed-wood-grain pieces, burnished handles and decorative keyholes, reminiscent of items Fulk grew up with in Virginia. Also available is the Keyhole Extra Wide Dresser ($1,599) and the Keyhole Tall Dresser ($1,299).
The Ken Fulk Retriever Ice Bucket ($129) is inspired by his love for his three golden retrievers. Made of aluminium, the ice bucket is a gorgeous addition to any bar setting. Pair it along with a Ken Fulk Retriever Bottle Opener, Ken Fulk Retriever strainer, muddler, stirrer, jigger and spoon straw for the full home-bar collection.
The Ken Fulk Signature Canopy bed frame ($399-599) is modeled after Fulk’s custom bed in his San Francisco loft. Designed to harmonize with a variety of furnishings, this canopy frame is finished in antique bronze with a subtle gold patina. It can be adjusted to fit a queen-, king- or California king-sized bed for added versatility.
The Ken Fulk Admiral Bar Cart ($599), inspired by his favorite 1960s Italian design takes glamorous to an whole new level. The bar cart with its rolling spoke wheels and gallery rails, comes with a nautical appeal to entertaining areas. Pair it with the matching Admiral Chairs ($299) to create the perfect dose of retro style to cocktail hour.
The Ken Fulk Quilted Leather Sectional ($8,895) comes in full aniline-dyed caramel leather, is richly padded and deeply tufted for the ultimate sit-back comfort. The five-piece sectional includes two corner chairs, three armless chairs and polyester-wrapped seat cushions.
