Savoir Beds lets you sleep like a king on a $175,000 Royal Bed

How much does an expensive beauty sleep cost? Well, if it’s a limited edition Royal Bed, then it’ll set you back by a cool $175,000! That is what British mattress maker Savoir Beds (also known for their collaboration with Rohit Bal) is showing off at the Kensington Palace in London. The beds take over 700 hours to make and feature “masses and masses of curled Latin American horsetail, “mountains” of pure Mongolian cashmere,” “along with specially woven silk that travels between New York and Miami to be made to perfection. With only 60 units up for grabs, it can be further personalized with anything from a crest, initials, or a logo that will be embroidered to perfection, courtesy of the Royal School of Needlework, well known for its role in creating Princess Kate’s wedding trousseau.

Inspired by royal 17th- and 18th- century British beds, these can be made as firm or soft as you desire and in shape to fit well into your bedframe. You get a minimum of 25 years of guarantee on the bed, mattress, and box spring, but the topper will have to be replaced every 5 to 7 years, which will cost you between $5,000 to $10,000. But if it cures your insomnia and helps you weave happy dreams, it’s not such a high price to pay.

Update –
The Royal Bed will be available at the Swiss Institute in New York City from 26th June 2013 onward.
