Young Dutch designer Peter Traag, a graduate of London’s Royal College, is the Sponge chair’s debutant, which has a shape particularly inspired by the sea sponges. It is the result of technological innovation that has allowed us to obtain a firm yet soft seat. This is achieved by injecting polyurethane foam into an overly large upholstery shell that has been fortified with a special fluorocarbon polyester thread.
This process has provided the chair a special “elephant skin” with random folds, totally awe-inspiring. I can already imagine myself being blissfully seated in this grand armchair. Although it is a bit expensive at $9,330.
