Designer duo David/Nicolas looked to the intense and beautiful sport of gymnastics to inspire their latest creation titled Bar Michele. The gymnastics beam represents balance and the unique piece of furniture realizes this idea through the use of an eclectic mix of materials. Leather, polished brass, Iranian white Onyx marble and black painted metal have come together in the Beirut based duo’s bar to create a quirky and eye catching conversation piece.
Interestingly enough, you can stand and sit at this bar but also straddle it! The leather clad ends of the beam can be used as seats thanks to the stirrups hanging below the beam that allow the seated person to comfortably rest their feet. The bar is all the more eccentric thanks to the varying heights at which the glass and white onyx tables are placed.
This was a privately commissioned piece so the chances of being able to see it in person are low, but knowing David Raffoul and Nicolas Moussallem there will no doubt be similar innovative pieces in their future.
