Unique home theater with a wine cellar in a historic den

New York-based AV Design & Integration and Acoustic Smart have added a hi-tech touch to a 100-year-old home protected by the historic preservation society. The traditional home was given a modern makeover when the renowned designers installed a home theater to match the home’s grandeur. The entertainment haven came to life through hand drawings and 3-D renderings of everything, including sightlines, seating, color texture, audiovisual components, carpet, finishes, and performance expectations. The installers even found a hidden room during construction, which they transformed into a stone-walled wine room. The room boasts of a Runco RS- 1100 Ultra projector with CineWide with autoscope and 120-inch 2.35:1 Stewart Filmscreen Electrimask screen. Sound is provided by 7.2-channel surround sound Triad speakers from Denon. An RTI touch screen remote operates all the entertainment equipment. But it is the hidden wine room that adds to this abode of entertainment’s charm and appeal.

A beautiful room that provides an escape from the daily hum drum of life, this room is definitely amazing. No wonder it is one of the finalists for the Home of the Year Awards 2009.
