The Retreat is built into an 800-year-old lava flow and boasts its own mineral-rich lagoon, providing guests with a truly private experience. The hotel is finishing 62 luxurious suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and either a balcony or patio; first-floor accommodations will have direct access to the steamy waters. The Royal Yacht Britannia’s new life is that of a luxurious floating hotel, permanently berthed by The Shore restaurant in Edinburgh, Scotland. 1 – One & Only Gorilla’s Nest, Rwanda
Opening: Late 2018

Set in the foothills of the Virunga Volcano is this exciting new base for face-to-face encounters with the world’s last mountain gorillas – only some 780 left. Nestled amongst a forest of eucalyptus trees, unpretentious guestrooms have rustic furnishings and natural elements. The restaurant will use produce grown in the lodge’s garden to create local African cuisine, and the One&Only spa promises to draw on African traditions for its treatment menu.
