Only yesterday, I found myself ogling at an image of a breathtaking hotel on Instagram, whilst secretly adding it to my favourites! The power of social media is only spiraling and everything is about picturesque landscapes and divine locales. More so, how can we flaunt our picture-perfect locations without the high and mighty Instagram!
While top-notch service and location pretty much dictates the hotel rule-book, a large chunk of travellers are also giving key importance to the appearance of hotels and resorts around the world.
Australian websites Fashionjournal and Expedia.au have compiled a list of the 9 most Insta-worthy hotels and resorts for you!
Hotel Plaza Athénée, Paris
Nestled in the heart of our beloved Paris, the Hotel Plaza Athénée is simply belle! The interiors are typically French, adorned with art and chandeliers but my favourite element is the hotel’s red and white façade and a balcony view of the Eiffel Tower.
Canaves Oia Suites, Santorini
I personally feel Instagram was created for places like Santorini. Granted every angle of Santorini offers the most inspiring views, Canaves Oia location is unimaginable. Imagine private luxury suites overlooking the most enviable views of the Aegean Sea, coupled with pool-side drinks amidst the white-on-white ambience.
Ayana Resort, Bali
The resort’s name immediately strikes a chord, given that its home to the legendary Rock Bar. But, the hotel occupies a position on this list for different reasons. Perched on a cliff, the hotel offers the most beautiful views of the sea below, whether you sitting by the pool or cosying up to a blanket by the beach.
St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London
It’s like the staircases were built for photos, forget their functionality. The lavish floral carpets and multi-coloured dome roofs were after all the set of a Spice Girls music video. Picture-perfect for Instagram!
While a handsome number of hotels have opted for the monotonous beachfront locale, the Keemala Phuket is all about the modest treehouse. The luxurious pods and villas are set amidst a landscape of utmost greenery.
Ice Hotel, Jukkasjärvi
The Ice Hotel is one of the most interesting hotels in the world. Given that it’s constructed from ice, a mandatory exercise of rebuilding every year takes place. Pose with Mink fur jackets coupled with adorable fluffy mittens in an average temperature of -5 to -8ºC.
Jade Mountain Resort, Soufrière
The Jade Mountain Resort has often cropped up on my Insta feed. The Caribbean hotel caters to the most awe-inspiring views of the turquoise waters beneath, especially since your balcony allows for an all-day err-day photo session.

Cappadocia Cave Suites, Cappadocia
The rugged terrain of Cappadocia is such a great contrast to the repetitive beach and mountain landscape. The Cappadocia Cave Suites blend luxury with aesthetic beauty right in the middle of an ancient cave system dotted with stone hotels.
El Fenn, Marrakech
Whether its verandahs, suites or lounges at El Fenn, each element is illuminated with splashes of colour. Visualise a myriad of colours featuring a palette of bright red, emerald green, royal blue and pastel pink. Moroccan decor is perhaps the most expressive with ethnic textiles, stained glass and original artworks from the owner’s private collection adorning the boutique property.
