The East African nation of Zanzibar is all set to get a massive luxury resort spread across 3,756 acres. Slated for a 2020 open, the resort will be the largest in East Africa and is being developed by Pennyroyal Gibraltar Limited. Designed to be more like a “community” the Zanzibar Amber Resort will be made up of five hotels and will include a number of lavish services and amenities for guests to access.
Facilities include East Africa’s first championship Ernie Els-designed golf course, a deep water marina, aqua park, underwater restaurant and nightclub, a souk for shopping, equestrian center and a super-yacht facility.
But that’s just the top of the iceberg, there are also plans for a private airport with a 9,842-foot runway, a medical facility and a private international school.
Permanent residences will be available for people looking to make this paradise their home. Expect 1,914 luxury villas as well as 3,440 luxury apartments priced between $700K and $10 million.
Ritz Carlton and Anantara are confirmed to be part of the community.
The Ritz Carlton Zanzibar will be an all-suite and villa resort, with 90 rooms and villas each boasting a private pool.
The Zanzibar Amber Resort will be completed in three phases over 15 years with the first phase wrapping up in 2020. That said, the resort’s first residential property is will open this year itself, with the golf course and several hotels opening next year.
